New haircut, New scrap space

Life is feeling pretty good right now. After working for two weeks on my scrap space it is finished!! I am so happy about it. What do you think? This is the most organized my creative space has ever been. I owe it all to the book The Organized and Inspired Scrapper. Awesome book that I highly recommend! I have scrapped two pages already and am working on a third. My goal is to make scrapbooking a part of my daily life. I'm on my way.

In my last post I told you about my shopping spree. It has been fun wearing all those new clothes. Sunday at Church I had so many compliments. (I think everybody was just so tired of the same striped sweater!!) Today I did something else new...I got a haircut!! I love it!! It's shorter, styled and hip. I'll have to post the "new" me.

New Clothes/New Attiftude?

I am currently so unhappy with my weight. I haven't felt this out of shape or weighed this much in nearly 18 years. I know exactly how I got here...eating way too much. I love food. There ya' go I admit...food is GOOD!

Over the past year and a half I have started dozens and dozens of diets. Every Monday I'd say..."Okay, Les this time I will do it!!" Well, I did do it for a few days then fail. By the weekend I was pigging out on chips, restaurant food and just not giving a darn.

Fast forward to this spring. I am at a loss as what to wear. Nothing fits. I have been wearing the same t-shirts and jeans for over a year now in hopes I'd be able to go on a shopping spree after I lost the weight. Guess what? That hasn't happened-yet. So yesterday I decided I needed some new clothes to cheer me up, make me feel good about me. My Mom and I went to St. Joe and found some really cute clothes at Kohls. I can't wait to put one of my new shirts on today!

I read somewhere awhile back that if we don't feel good about ourselves while we're losing weight then it's easier for us to fall off the wagon. I really believe that's true. So, yes, I splurged on a few new shirts but when I look good I feel good. And when I feel good I'm less likely to binge on crap. New clothes/New Attitude? ABSOLUTELY!!

So I've been thinking...

I've really been thinking a lot about what it is I want my Blog to truly be. I enjoy visiting other Blogs to get a peek into others "real" life and to be inspired on many levels. Sometimes it's about the scrapbooking, crafts and art. Other times it's how to write, spend time with my kids or books I should read. Blogs are very personal and at the moment I feel like my is not. So...with that in mind I began to truly think about my Blog...what is it I want to share with you?

The title of my blog is "Write. Create. Be." Three of my favorite words. Just saying these words, looking at these words gets me thinking differently. Writing has been a passion of mine since I was in 5th grade. That was the year my wonderful Grammy Kern gave me the sweetest, little golden yellow diary with a lock and key. It was that thoughtful gift that got me into writing down my thoughts, goals and dreams. I wish she were still alive so I could tell her just what that gift meant has meant to my life.

The word Create gives me hope and energy. I love creating scrapbook pages and other crafts. I love letting the real me out on my pages for all the world to see.

The word Be is the best word of all. Last summer while visiting friends in Utah I found the perfect item to decorate my home. It's a slate tile that sets on an easel. It says "Just Be". When life is going 90 miles an hour I can just look at that phrase and I breathe easier. "Just Be". Be yourself, enjoy the moment, do what you love. Love, love, love that.

So, after all this thinking about my Blog and playing around with the look of it I've decided on several things...

1) Post more meaningful entries
2) Share my pages and photos more
3) Inspire you

There is no doubt about it. Writing is my one true passion. I could never scrap again, craft again...but I could never, ever not write again. Writing for me is like breathing. It's a must in my life.

So, here's to blogging, creating, inspiring. I hope you enjoy every minute of this journey I'm about to take.

By the way be sure and visit me here . This place is my dream come true!

New Products arriving daily at Scrapwords!!

I am so excited...got my first CHA order Friday! It's from Jenni Bowlin Studios and I must say...I am impressed. Awesome stuff. Thinking I should have ordered more so I can use it, too!

We've had this busy, crazy week, I'm downstairs cleaning and Dave comes downstairs and says to me, "Hey, hon. Let's go out tonight. Dinner, movie the works! WHOO HOO!! I scream. We finished cleaning, got ready and all headed to The Hangar. We hung out for an hour or so in their dining area eating fantastic food, laughing, sharing and enjoying each other's company. It was perfect. Jackson is trying to get ready for his ProScout debut so we were trying to pick out a script for him to start practicing. This is proving to be a bit difficult.

After dinner we watchedVantage Point. We agreed it was fabulous. The buttered popcorn and Milk Duds were good, too.

Today we're off to Kansas City for some down time. We all so need this. I'm excited!!

In the meantime check out these awesome images from Jenni Bowling now available at Scrapwords!!

I am Blessed

Even though the world around me at the moment is spinning way to fast, I have this overwhelming sense of peace. I am blessed beyond anything I ever imagined. I have this amazing husband who loves me, supports me, is my best friend, loves to be silly with me. Wow. Then there are my children. Heavenly Father gave me the two best spirits!! Jackson is a challenge, true but I am amazed at his candor, his wit and his way with little kids. Emma is pure delight. Sweet, magical, adorable, smart...my Emme is my gift. Love my kids. They are my treasures.

I am peaceful, humble, inspired and so loving my crazy, hectic life right now.

Creative Inspiration

I absolutely LOVE the book 52 Projects by Jeffrey Yamaguchi. I first heard about the book from Ali Edwards. I immediately went to the bookstore, found it and bought a copy. Love it!

In this amazing little book (it really is a nice, cute little book...my faves!!) Yamaguchi says that Projects lead to self-discovery. How true is that? Think about it...especially when we are scrapping our family photos...we may see a photo from our childhood and remember something we hadn't thought about in AGES. He says, "Most fascinating are the surprises that come about during the process-forgotten memories that pop to the forefront of your mind, the sudden, urgent impulse to get in touch with an old friend, remembering how much you used to enjoy taking pictures or reworking your poems over and over again."
