What a long couple of days!

Man, it has been a long couple of days. I'm ready for a relaxing Friday night of creating. The past 24 hours I have been going through my kids' childhood keepsakes, stuff from my Dad's, my grandparent's and more. It is an overwhelming and sometimes sad task. Then, my DH had to take my truck out of town so my Mom had to drive me on my errands. I'm just glad to be home!

It seems whenever I'm planning to just BE...to just CREATE...something pops up,making it nearly impossible. The kids need me, Dave needs me, SOMEBODY NEEDS ME!! It's great to be needed but I NEED A BREAK...a nice, peaceful creative break!! The kids have a dance tonight so I'm gonna hide in my scrap space while they are gone.

What I get done this weekend (I'm scrapping tomorrow night, too) I will be sure and post.

Happy Weekend!

Only Ask

" I'd like to share a chapter out of Sarah Ban Breathnach's Simple Abundance Companion.

Only Ask

There is something that has brought a sense of adventure to my daily round: it's asking for what I want. Help. Advice. Wisdom. Guidance. Information. We want, we need, we desire, we yearn, but we don't ask. We ask for things like...please give me the salt or can I have a raise or Molly, would you please take care of my plants while I'm gone?

So many times we need to ask for bigger things but don't because we are afraid somebody will say no. We choose not to ask, but we continue to wish, existing in a state of deprivation. Asking comes with no guarantees. But I know that if we don't ask, we haven't got a prayer.

This week, start asking for what you want. Ask your husband to take the kids for the afternoon so you can scrap for an hour or two. Ask the kids to pick up there own rooms so you don't have to. Ask for the day off. Ask for a raise. Ask for what you need and want. Ask to be answered. Ask with a grateful heart and you will be heard.

Challenge: Answer these questions in your journal this week.

1) What talent have you yearned for that would make your life richer? Could it be those talents are already within you?

2) What dreams and talents do you posess right now that you are nurturing, tending, allowing to flourish?

3) What are the blocks that have kept you from asking for the things ou need- from your family, your friends, your employer, yourself?

Bloom

"Bloom where you're planted." -Mary Engelbreit

I really came to love this quote several years ago when we were living in our 120 year old Victorian home. There was so much to do on that house....carpet, paint, window treatments, a new kitchen and so much more. My kids were smaller, too and constantly creating messes in an already messy, old house. I was completely overwhelmed on a daily basis.

While shopping at Wal-Mart one day I came across this quote in a pretty frame. I bought it simply because it "spoke" to me. It hung in my bathroom for 4 years. Each day while blow-drying my hair I'd stare at that quote, run it around in my head and remind myself that right where I was, that is where I needed to bloom...to grow, to empower myself, to love, to live. I had to stop waiting for somewhere better to live, for my children to stop creating messes, to lose those last 10 pounds, etc. I had to stop waiting and start blooming.

Let me leave you with this amazing quote from George Bernard Shaw:

"The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want...and if they can't find them, make them."

Ah, it's Saturday

Remember when we were kids and all we did Saturday morning was get up, grab a bowl of Captain Crunch and plop down in front of the TV for a morning of cartoons? Those were the days...

Today I'm off to teach scrapbooking classes to my daughter's 4-H group. We started on Book of Me's last month. Really fun! The girls range in age from 10 to 14. Last time we went I gave each girl a huge goody bag from Scrapwords. They loved it!! After class Em and I will head home, grab a bite to eat then we're at church to clean and set up our Primary Room. Hopefully we'll be done with everything by 3:00 so we can get home and I can scrap for a bit. I've had this altered mini suitcase in my mind for weeks now and I'm ready to actually create it! I'll be sure and post here once it's done.

Happy Saturday!
